Vermeer's Love Letters

Jul 14, 2025

The Frick Collection reopens after a five-year renovation with the "Vermeer's Love Letters" special exhibition this summer.

The exhibition centers around Johannes Vermeer’s “Mistress and Maid” painting, with two special loans to the collection forming a trio. With “The Love Letter” from the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, and “Lady Writing a Letter, With Her Maid” from the National Gallery of Ireland, the exhibition marks the first time these three paintings of letter writing in the 17th century have come together.
